Lagers Beers & Cider

Whether lager or ale the ingredients are the same.
The major difference is in the brewing.
A lager is fermented in a cold environment (1 - 12 degrees celsius) from the bottom up which produces a clean, crisper quality, represented in the clarity of the liquid and bringing forth the flavours of the hops and malt.
Whereas ale ferments from the top down in a warmer environment (15 - 23 degrees celsius) producing a more fruity or spicy flavour and a generally darker colour. Ales are considered to have a more robust and complex palate.
If you are unsure of your desired tipple or see a beer you haven’t seen before, we do have a very comprehensive selection, just speak to one of our experienced and knowledgable bar staff who will gladly give you a taste, ensuring confidence of enjoyment, before you invest in a half or pint, which, at The Grove Tavern, is always perfectly pulled.
